DURBAN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature has called for tight security at provincial ports of entry following the discovery of warehouses used to keep illicit goods.
The party said that law enforcement agencies still had a lot of work to do to secure facilities near the ports of entry.
On Wednesday, police found illicit goods including expired food in two separate warehouses in Bluff, south of Durban.

"That is a crime on its own that such products can find itself having to pass on our shores. It means the security in that harbour is very weak," said party leader in the legislature, Mongezi Twala.
Twala said the party would approach the legislature for accountability in this regard.
"We are going to urge the legislature and government in particular because we also have SABS, we don’t understand why they couldn’t detect such things when it finds itself on our grounds in KZN."
