CAPE TOWN - Child rights group Women And Men Against Child Abuse (WAMACA) says it's encouraged that the sexual assault trial of former Rondebosch Boys Preparatory School teacher, Iain Wares, is drawing to a close.
The 85-year-old man is accused of multiple counts of sexual and physical abuse of young boys in South Africa and the United Kingdom (UK), spanning decades.
Wares’s trial is expected to resume in the Wynberg Regional Court on Tuesday, and the State is expected to call its last witness, the wife of his South African accuser.
Women And Men Against Child Abuse director, Miranda Jordan, said the net was closing in on Wares.
"This hearing also exposes the systemic failures that allowed Iain Wares to evade justice in South Africa and the UK for so long."
