JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng’s executive council says plans are in place to ensure smooth operations in case of disasters this summer.
Briefing the media on Sunday, acting Premier, Lebogang Maile said the council had reviewed the province's state of disaster preparedness for the warmest season.
In November, several people in Randfontein were injured after a severe storm hit the area.
Maile said they were aware of the hazardous weather conditions that come with the season and assured residents that a proactive disaster risk management strategy was in place.
"There is a coordinated plan in place for unforeseen events that may occur during the season to ensure maximum and efficient utilisation of all resources to prevent injury, diseases and loss of life, and protect and preserve infrastructure."
