Alleged Limpopo Facebook serial rapist in court for several cases reported on Christmas

JOHANNESBURG - An alleged Facebook serial rapist in Limpopo is facing the Tzaneen Magistrates Court on Friday for several cases of rape reported on Christmas.  

It is understood the 20-year-old used the social media platform to lure minors to secluded areas near Manningburg, where he would allegedly rape the young victims and take their belongings.  

He was apprehended at Kgapane Hospital after one of his victims retaliated in self-defence.  

“The provincial commissioner has welcomed the arrest of the alleged rapist and appealed to communities, especially young women, to be cautious when interacting with strangers on social media platforms such as Facebook, since this poses a significant risk to their safety,” said Limpopo police spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba.
