EThekwini Metro still probing cause of fire at Foreman Road informal settlement

DURBAN - The eThekwini Metro Municipality says its still investigating the cause of fire at the Foreman Road informal settlement.
Forty-two homes were completely destroyed in a blaze in the area on Wednesday night.
While no injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the inferno, it has, however, left many homeless.
Residents in the Foreman Road informal settlement had a bad start to the new year as some structures were burnt to the ground.
Eighty-three people, including school children, have since been displaced.
Disaster management teams are still on the ground assessing the situation, while a team from the human settlements department is set to also visit the area later on.
Non-profit organisations have also been assisting affected people with food and other needs.
