Firefighters battle blaze in Franschhoek mountains

CAPE TOWN - Several firefighters from the Cape Winelands District Municipality are on site battling a blaze in the Franschhoek mountains.

Officials said that the fire seems to have started on the Overberg side.

Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson, Jo-Ann Otto: "Fire crews and vehicles from the CWDM are assisted by contracted ground teams from NCC and Lewis Bush Clearing. Partners, Winelands Fire Protection Association (FPA) and CapeNature are also on scene."
