TMPD wants justice for murder of Constable Ramaabele Mothapo

JOHANNESBURG - The Tshwane Metro Police Department is calling for justice following the killing of a female officer by her boyfriend.
Constable Ramaabele Sophy Mothapo was shot and killed on Christmas Eve at her Lotus Garden home in Pretoria West.
On Friday, her former lover, John Manyaba, made his first appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates Court, where he stands accused of murder.

Prior to her death, Constable Mothapo had just celebrated ten years in the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
Spokesperson for the TMPD, Isaac Mahamba, said that her death had been felt throughout force.
"Tactical team members, they go to incidents where an ordinary member of the TMPS cannot go, so Sophy was one of the members that were highly trained and we are saddened by this loss. Let the law take its course. We want to make sure the police investigate this matter to the core and we plead let the justice be done for the victim."
Mothapo will be laid to rest on Saturday at her home village in Ga-Mpahlele, Limpopo.
Meanwhile, the court matter has been postponed to 22 January, where Manyaba is expected to make his bail application.
After allegedly killing Ramaabele Mothapo on Christmas Eve, John Manyaba took her car and fled to Limpopo.

He was apprehended in Limpopo and charged in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate Court.
