IFP President's VIP driver killed in car accident

JOHANNESBURG - One of the drivers for Inkatha Freedom Party President and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, (COGTA) Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa, has been involved in a deadly car accident near Stanger, in KwaZulu-Natal.
It is understood that the accident took place on Saturday night and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident was part of its fleet.
Hlabisa was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident and the driver was alone.
COGTA media liaison Pearl Maseko-Binqose said that the family asked for the name of the driver to not be disclosed to the public while they mourn.
"Minister Hlabisa extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family at this unfortunate hour of pain. Out of respect for the dearly departed and the family of the deceased, Minister Hlabisa has requested that the privacy of the family be respected."
