Almost 3,000 newly-trained officers added to SAPS ranks across SA - Masemola

CAPE TOWN - Nearly 3,000 newly-trained police officers have been added to the South African Police Service (SAPS)'s ranks countrywide.
SAPS National Commissioner Fannie Masemola announced on Sunday that the officers reported for duty in December.
Masemola said this meant they executed some 240,000 arrests over the festive season.
“In terms of more boots on the ground, with an addition of 2,999 newly trained constables who joined the ranks of SAPS from October last year [2024] to mid-December last year. We were able to heighten police visibility and boost our crime-combatting efforts at areas identified as hotspots, including malls, beaches, and along the country's strategic routes.”
