Khumalo handed himself over to the police in January after an assault case was opened against him the previous month.
The TV crime fighter turned politician maintains the case is part of a smear campaign against him and his efforts to fight drug-related crime in the city.

Khumalo was part of a police drug bust when the alleged assault took place in 2025. ActionSA is adamant that the matter is an attempt to intimidate him.
Khumalo is expected to be flanked by several ActionSA leaders. The party's national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, has previously stated that they’re fully behind Khumalo.
“We are proud of Xolani because he is not a man who fears accountability. He heard rumours about his arrest, and he presented himself to the police and said I welcome accountability. People who don't break the law welcome accountability in our country."
Khumalo, who also faces a charge of pointing a firearm, stands accused alongside the chairperson of Gauteng's anti-crime units, Duma Radebe.
