Khayelitsha pastor arrested for alleged rape, assault of congregants

CAPE TOWN - A 51-year-old Khayelitsha pastor has been arrested for the alleged rape and assault of his congregants.
Police said that the pastor would force congregants to stay after services before raping them.
Later, two survivors alerted the community and tipped off the police.
It's alleged that the 51-year-old man has been sexually assaulting his congregants since 2022.
Western Cape police's Wesley Twigg said that the man was currently in custody.
"The victims - 15, 22 and 23 - are safe and are receiving treatment and counselling. The 51-year-old suspect was arrested and appeared in court where the case was remanded until 4 February 2025 at the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court."
