Premier Alan Winde said intelligence operatives are needed to intercept the violent street gang network.
Two men were killed and five other people were wounded in the attack at the Hazeldene taxi rank on Tuesday.
Winde said the incident is a suspected gang hit: “The gangsters apparently were hiding in wheelie bins, with people pushing the bins dressed up as municipal workers with bibs on. And then, you know, this is obviously a hit on another gang.”
In a separate attack, in Portlands, a man died in another gang-related shooting. The attackers fled the scene in a getaway car.
The shootings have continued unabated despite the army's deployment to the area since last week.
