JOHANNESBURG - National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) beneficiaries enrolling in colleges and universities for the first time have been warned to be on the lookout for misinformation about registration fees.
Education activist Hendrick Makaneta said the funds fully covered registration for eligible students.
He said there was no need for parents to use more money to pay to register.
"There have been increasing reports of students misleading their parents into borrowing money, sometimes even taking loans from loan sharks to cover registration costs that NSFAS already pays directly to universities and TVET colleges."
