Two female officers accused of assaulting woman granted bail

JOHANNESBURG - The two female officers accused of assaulting a woman at Heidedal Police Station have each been granted R100,000 bail.
The incident occurred when Stephanie Booysen went to the police station to report that her boyfriend had violated a protection order.
However, a disagreement allegedly led to the officers Mamorena Shuping and Lucia Marumo beating her.

According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), Booysens suffered injuries during the altercation.
"The two officers' case has been remanded to 7 March and it will still sit at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court. Allegedly an argument ensued between Ms. Booysen and the two officers and that led to her being assaulted inside the police station" said the IPID's spokesperson - Lizzy Shuping.
