WC police recover delivery truck hijacked in Athlone

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police have recovered a truckload of stolen food items worth approximately R1 million in Athlone.
The truck, carrying Nestle products was reportedly hijacked in Duinefontein Road, Manenberg on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana said officers responded to a tip-off from the security company that was tracking the truck.
"They spotted a vehicle that was returning to the mentioned address. A high-speed chase ensued and the driver of the vehicle was arrested as the video CCTV footage positively linked the suspect’s vehicle offloading the stolen goods."
Manyana said the truck was later recovered abandoned in Strandfontein.
