Creecy appoints John Lamola as CEO of SAA

JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy has appointed Professor John Lamola as group chief executive officer (CEO) of South African Airways (SAA).
This comes as Lamola served as the airline's interim CEO since 2022.
SAA said that during his tenure in the acting position, Lamola led the airline to profit-making status as well as an increase in its national, continental, and global routes.
The airline's destinations have risen from 6 in 2021 to 16 to date, including an expansion of its fleet from 6 to 20 aircraft in the same period.
The board has welcomed his appointment.
