JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks are investigating four dockets of high treason understood to be against AfriForum and Solidarity.

This follows several high-level meetings in Washington between AfriForum and US President Donald Trump's administration.

AfriForum is lobbying for the country to intervene and hold the African National Congress (ANC) accountable for what they've described as threats to Afrikaans culture.

AfriForum and Solidarity's claims of discrimination, that minorities are experiencing through legislation, have been met with much debate in the country.

But it could spell trouble for both movements as the Hawks are probing four dockets of high treason against the entities.

While cautious to mention the names of the entities, Hawks head, General Godfrey Lebeya, told EWN that they were investigating four dockets of high treason.

"We have indeed received four case dockets against the entities that I do not want to start by mentioning their names, which is the normal practice in that we don't mention the names of the entities before they are charged. But otherwise, we have received four cases that are currently under investigation."

The cases were opened at police stations across the country and centralised to the Hawks.
