Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi looks back fondly on his time at the club: ‘I am grateful’
Baloyi made his first-team debut in 1993.
947’s Robert Marawa chats to football legend Brian Baloyi.
Listen below:
The retired goalkeeper says memories of his time at Kaizer Chiefs are among the best of his life.
He made his debut for the first team in 1993, cementing his name in the record books.
“I am grateful to have played for such a great club that has such a great history of winning… I’ve learned so much from all the senior players… great memories.”
– Brian Baloyi
He was a household name before making a shocking move to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004.
“There was a lot of emotion... a lot of sadness and anger for me having moved... but Chiefs has always been my first love.”
– Brian Baloyi
Looking at where the Chiefs are today, he says the club has work to do.
“The only way to fix the situation is to be honest... I know as a player when you get criticised you take it personally, but don’t take it personally. If we say you’re not quality, prove us wrong, show us that you are.”
– Brian Baloyi
“When I look at Chiefs right now, what is missing is the spine... you need a really seasoned and experienced goalkeeper… [or] an experienced central defender… Chiefs need to go out and find one of the two.”
– Brian Baloyi
