JOHANNESBURG - French-based technology company, IDEMIA, insists it won the controversial driver's licence card machine tender legitimately.
The company is on the verge of losing out on a contract of almost half a billion rand following the release of the auditor-general (AG)'s report, which found the transport department flouted several procurement processes in awarding the tender.
In a statement, IDEMIA said it takes seriously the AG's report, however, some of the findings do not reflect the reality of its operations.
The company said it was consulting its legal team to ensure there was a fair resolution to the issues raised by the AG.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Collen Msibi, said that they were taking seriously the issues raised by the AG.
"The minister of transport, Barbara Creecy, has instructed her department to lodge a high court application for a declaratory order regarding the driver's licence card machine tender found to have been irregular by the AG."
