Chiloane visits families of 4 learners who died in Ekurhuleni car accident

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has arrived in Daveyton, where he will be meeting the families of the four learners who died in a car accident in Ekurhuleni on Monday.
The crash occurred on the N12 near the Putfontein Road off-ramp in Daveyton.
One of the vehicles involved was transporting children to school.
Two of the children who lost their lives in the crash were siblings, the first in Grade 1 and the other in Grade 3.
They attended Tom Newby Primary School in Benoni.
The other is a Grade 1 pupil from Rynfield Primary School, also in Benoni.
And the fourth is a Grade R learner.
Department spokesperson, Steve Mabona, said the MEC would be visiting the families of the victims.
"The Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will visit the families of the children who passed away in an accident that occurred on the N12 on the 10 March 2025."
A Grade Three female learner from Rynfield Primary School survived the crash and remains in hospital.
Mabona said pupils were being provided with psychosocial support.
