New membership prices for SANBI botanical and zoological gardens

Accessing the stunning gardens of the African continent has become more affordable with the introduction of new pricing options for couples, families, and pensioners through the SANBI Gardens Membership.
Starting in March 2025, visitors can enjoy the beauty of green open spaces while supporting biodiversity conservation at national botanical and zoological gardens.
A variety of membership options are now available to suit different needs, including individual, couple, family, and pensioner packages, as well as regional memberships.
The National membership
This membership grants entry to all SANBI gardens, including Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and the Pretoria Zoo:
- Individuals adults: R800 per year
- Students and pensioners: R600 per year
- Scholars: R400 per year
- Couples: R1200 per year
- Families (2 adults and 3 children, or 1 adult and 4 children): Full access for R1600 per year
Regional membership one
This provides access to the Pretoria National Botanical Garden, the National Zoological Garden, and the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden:
- Individual adults: R650 per year
- Students and pensioners: R480 per year
- Scholars: R325 per year
- Couples: R1000 per year
- Families (2 adults and 3 children, or 1 adult and 4 children): Full access for R1300 per year
Regional membership two
This membership grants access to:
- Free State National Botanical Garden
- Hantam National Botanical Garden
- Harold Porter National Botanical Garden
- Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden
- KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden
- Kwelera National Botanical Garden
- Lowveld National Botanical Garden
- Thohoyandou National Botanical Garden
- Mokopane Biodiversity Conservation Centre
This membership is available at:
- Individuals adults: R500 per year
- Students and pensioners: R375 per year
- Scholars: R250 per year
- Couples: R800 per year
- Families (2 adults and 3 children, or 1 adult and 4 children): Full access for R1000 per year
Children under six can enter national botanical gardens without a membership, while those under two enjoy free entry to the national zoological gardens.
Additionally, pensioners benefit from free entry on Tuesdays at most gardens.
