DURBAN - Accused 2021 July unrest instigator, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, will now turn to the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) to have her incitement charges withdrawn.
Zuma-Sambudla is charged with incitement to commit terrorism and incitement to commit public violence linked to the July 2021 riots.
She had previously approached the KwaZulu-Natal Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Elaine Zungu in this regard but her request was declined.

The accused returned to the Durban High Court on Thursday, where her lawyer, advocate Dali Mpofu, indicated that they will take the matter to the NDDP.
"Once they do so, it will then be a matter that the National Director of Public Prosecutions have to consider depending on what they present before her," said NPA spokesperson, Mthunzi Mhaga.
He added that the national director would also have to consult her KZN counterpart in this regard.
"She will also have to get a report from the DPP because, in terms of the NPA Act, an NDPP may only review a decision to prosecute or not after consulting the relevant DPP," said Mhaga.
