JOHANNESBURG - A 24-year-old man in Limpopo has been arrested for attempting to bribe law officials.

On Friday, the suspect was stopped during an Easter safety operation on the N1 highway in Mokopane when police discovered that he was under the influence.

The man proceeded to offer officials money to avoid being apprehended.

RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane warned motorists that those who attempted to bribe law enforcement would be arrested.

"The Road Traffic Management Corporation commends the officers for showing that they are not for sale and road safety is not negotiable. Traffic officers will undertake heightened drunk driving operations today as history shows that this kind of conduct increases on weekends."
