JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Transport in the Eastern Cape has cautioned motorists to tread carefully on the roads as wet weather puts a dampener on the final day of Easter holidays.
Holidaymakers are expected to continue travelling back in and out of the province on Monday, with traffic volumes expected to peak later this afternoon on major routes.
Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose has urged motorists to exercise patience and follow traffic rules.
“The driving conditions are less than ideal, it’s wet and slippery with poor visibility in some areas, but we want to commend and urge motorists to continue on the same path that they have been on because we have been seeing a decline in the number of crashes and fatalities.”
