Limpopo police probing off-duty officer for murder after shooting motorist

JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating an off-duty officer for alleged murder following a heated altercation with a motorist in Bakenburg in Limpopo.
It’s believed the pair got into an argument near a tavern on Monday before the officer allegedly shot at the 24-year-old using his service firearm.
It’s unclear what led to the incident of road rage.
Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said that after the shooting, the off-duty cop rushed the victim to the hospital, who was pronounced dead on arrival.
"The motive behind this incident which resulted in the killing of the victim is under investigation. The suspect’s official firearm has been confiscated as part of the investigation," said Ledwaba.
