Underground cable fire on M1 in Braamfontein causes traffic delays
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has urged motorists who are already on the route to be patient.

JOHANNESBURG - Another underground fire has erupted on the M1 in Braamfontein, causing traffic delays.
The cause of the blaze is not known at this stage, but motorists have been urged to use alternative routes.
An underground fire broke out on the M1 exactly a year ago and it affected City Power cables near the north double-decker section.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has urged motorists who are already on the route to be patient.
Spokesperson Xolani Fihla: "Two lanes on the M1 South are closed after the Smith Street exit and Braamfontein due to a cable fire under the overpass. City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services and Johannesburg Metro Police Department are on scene."
