JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has submitted a memorandum of demands to the City of Tshwane, urging the municipality to take action against the whites-only community of Kleinfontein.
Thousands of EFF supporters marched to the Afrikaner-exclusive settlement on Friday, calling on the metro to shut it down.
The 900-hectare settlement was declared illegal by the Pretoria High Court, as the land is zoned for agricultural and not residential purposes.
EFF Gauteng chairperson, Nkululeko Dunga, outlined some of the party’s key demands.
"The City of Tshwane must immediately implement the August 2024 High Court ruling by halting all illegal development in Kleinfontein and compelling compliance of municipal laws and regulations. Inspectors and law enforcement, the city must investigate and regulate Kleinfontein. They must conduct a full investigation into the legality of Kleinfontein’s existence."
