Police probing attempted cash-in-transit heist in Thokoza

JOHANNESBURG - Police have launched an investigation following an attempted cash-in-transit heist in Thokoza in Ekurhuleni on Tuesday.
It's alleged that ten heavily armed suspects travelling in three cars rammed a cash van before using explosives to try and get it open.
Police said no cash was stolen and the vehicle used by the suspects was left at the crime scene.
Police spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko said the drivers of the cash van were not harmed.
"The police are investigating an armed robbery and attempted murder after a cash van was rammed by a silver BMW in Phola Park Extension 5, Thokoza, at the corner of Khumalo and Murubisi Streets."
