The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) said it remains on high alert to ensure all road users are safe this Easter.
Law enforcement officers have already set up to monitor major highways on Thursday.
The RTMC expects traffic volumes to increase on major routes like the N3 in KwaZulu- Natal (KZN), N2 in Limpopo and the Free State and the N12 and N4.
Traffic has already been disrupted on the N3 in KZN after a multiple vehicle collision this morning, where more than 25 people were injured.
On Wednesday, there was a collision on the N1 near Modimolle, in Limpopo, that claimed five lives.
