JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says stage two load shedding is set to persist for a third day and will run into the evening.
Earlier in the week, the utility announced the return of rolling blackouts due to delays in the restoration of units from planned maintenance.
During a media briefing yesterday, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa gave assurance that they had ramped up their maintenance on power stations in anticipation of the winter season.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said they would suspend loadshedding at 10pm on Thursday evening.
"Since early this week, we restored 1,175MW, with an additional 1,850MW expected to return to service before tomorrow’s evening peak. These improvements contribute to overall system stability, supported by sufficient emergency reserves, which will be strategically deployed when necessary."
Thursday, 15 May 2025: #Stage2 #loadshedding will continue during today’s evening peak period, from 16:00 to 22:00, as previously communicated.
