CAPE TOWN - Water has been restored to parts of Knysna eight days after a water supply interruption.

Residents took to the streets to protest over the lack of water.

The Knysna Municipality told EWN that the problem occurred as a result of water pump failures.

It said that a few areas are still affected and water tankers are supplying residents with water, as a temporary measure.

Knysna Municipal Manager, Lulamile Mapholoba, said that they expect the water supply to be fully restored by Monday.

"The first area that was affected was Rheenendal, and that area has been restored as of this morning of today. There was a problem where our pumps packed (packed up). The other areas that are affected is the CBD and the whole of the northern areas, including the Pezula area.”
