CAPE TOWN - A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested for allegedly issuing threats against President Cyril Ramaphosa

A press release issued by the Hawks on Saturday morning explained how the suspect was arrested in Germiston, Gauteng, after reportedly making threats against the president.

Threats were reportedly also made against Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and an unnamed CEO of a Cape Town-based company.

"The arrest on Friday, 23 May 2025, follows a case reported earlier this month. On Monday, 12 May 2025, where a complainant, who is the chief executive officer of a Cape Town-based company, allegedly received a voice message from the suspect, in which threats were made against the president of South Africa,” said Hawks' spokesperson Thandi Mbambo.

The suspect is currently being transported to Cape Town and is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of intimidation.
