CAPE TOWN – Joshlin Smith’s mother, Kelly Smith, and family members wept during the reading of victim impact statements.
Smith and her co-accused, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, are expected to be sentenced on Thursday for their involvement in the little girl’s disappearance in 2024.
They were convicted of kidnapping and human trafficking.
A written account from Joshlin's class teacher and her grandmother are among the victim impact statements submitted to the court in aggravation of the trio's sentence.
