SALDANHA BAY - Amanda Daniel, the mother of Kelly Smith, who has been sentenced to life in prison for the disappearance of her daughter, Joshlin Smith, said that Smith must deal with the consequences of her actions.
Daniels on Wednesday presented the court with a scathing victim impact statement in aggravation of Smith's sentence.
Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn were all handed life sentences on Thursday after being found guilty of kidnapping and human trafficking related to Joshlin's disappearance.

Daniels was consoled in court as she listened to Judge Nathan Erasmus sentence her daughter to life imprisonment.
Erasmus told the court that the victim impact statement written by Daniels in aggravation of sentencing played a role in helping him reach his conclusion.
In the statement, Daniels wrote that Smith played the victim and lied to her about taking the stand to testify about what happened to Joshlin.
Daniels said that Smith must take responsibility for her actions.
"She did something wrong, so she must deal with the consequences. The last time I spoke to her here and she told she will talk, she will take the stand, but she didn't."
Daniels would not comment when asked if she was expecting a lighter sentence.
