Laerskool Dalmondeor staffer arrested for alleged sexual assault of Grade 2 pupil

JOHANNESBURG - A staff member from Laerskool Dalmondeor, in the south of Johannesburg, has been arrested on school grounds for the alleged sexual assault of a Grade 2 pupil.

Police nabbed the general assistant on Wednesday, after the learner’s mother opened a case at the Mondeor Police Station.

It’s understood that the alleged incident happened last Wednesday in the school’s cloakroom.

Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson, Steve Mabona, said the matter was not known to the school until Wednesday, when police made the arrest.

"As a department, we take such allegations seriously, and we continue to commit that the safety and protection of our children remains paramount and will be prioritised at all times."
