The missing girl's mother, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn were handed life sentences on Thursday for Joshlin's disappearance.
Saldanha resident Nabeelah Abdul, who is a mother of five, said one of her children was almost abducted recently.
"This area is not as safe as people think. My kid was basically almost abducted. There is a lot of paranoia."
Abdul said more resources need to be made available to tackle child abduction and human trafficking.
