As the Easter weekend comes to a close, the Transport and Community Safety Department in Limpopo said that it will keep a close eye on major routes, especially the N1, with round-the-clock monitoring in place.

Authorities warn that traffic volumes are expected to increase, particularly later on Monday as holidaymakers make their way home.

Motorists are urged to remain patient, stay alert, and drive responsibly during the busy return period.

Department Spokesperson Stephen Matjena said that officers will also be targeting drunk drivers…

"Drunk driving, this is an operation that we're going to be dealing with from today until tomorrow because we understand that in municipal areas, there are still Easter celebrations. We're going to be conducting that just to ensure that we don't have motorists who are drinking and driving.”
