ANC WC calling on govt to grant André Lincoln official provincial funeral

CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape is calling on the provincial government to grant former freedom fighter ANC WC calling on govt to grant André Lincoln official provincial funeral  Lincoln an official provincial funeral.  

The former uMkhonto weSizwe operative died on Friday after a long illness.

Lincoln also assisted in foiling an assassination attempt against South Africa's first democratically elected statesman, Nelson Mandela.  

The provincial spokesperson for the ANC, Khalid Sayed, says Lincoln is acknowledged for his profound work as the former head of the provincial Anti-Gang unit.  

“We have mandated our legislature caucus to write to Premier Winde in this regard. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the communities he so passionately served. The people of the Western Cape and the entire nation have lost a patriot of extraordinary stature.”
