The city’s leadership has faced criticism, including from President Cyril Ramaphosa, for failing to make progress in turning Johannesburg around.
Speaking at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday, Morero emphasised that this is why the bomb squad is important.
"It’s an acknowledgement of the decline that has happened in the city since 2016, and now we want to arrest and change it. It's not a duplication, it’s more of support where are gaps and weaknesses. We believe that in the next year or so, we should have turned around the city.
