JOHANNESBURG - Another suspect linked to the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Roodepoort has been arrested.

Police said that the man, a spaza shop owner, lived in the same community of Durban Deep as Likhona Fose.

Fose's mutilated body was found in an open veld not far from her home in May, a day after she was reported missing.

Meanwhile, 39-year-old Mduduzi Mnisi, who has been charged with the premeditated murder of the teen, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Public Safety MMC Mgcini Tshwaku revealed that another suspect claimed to have been instructed by the shop owner to commit the heinous crime.

It's not yet clear just how many other suspects were linked to this matter.

Tskwaku said that the area of Durban Deep had since been experiencing heightened tensions, with shops being looted.

However, JMPD officers have been deployed to secure the area and prevent further violence.
