EC flooding: Cabinet expresses condolences to families who've lost loved ones

CAPE TOWN - Cabinet has expressed its condolences to families in the Eastern Cape who have lost loved ones due to flooding and extreme weather in the province.

The Minister in The Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, delivered the message during a post-Cabinet briefing in Cape Town on Thursday.

She said to date, 57 deaths had been confirmed by authorities.

“Cabinet extends its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the flooding across the various areas in the Eastern Cape. Several families have also been displaced, and infrastructure has been damaged.”

Ntshavheni also warned of more bad weather in the upcoming days, calling on the public to be vigilant.

“Cabinet cautions everyone to be vigilant over the next few days due to the expected weather conditions in most parts of the country. This could include drops in temperature, snowfall, strong winds and heavy rains.”
