JOHANNESBURG - Families of some of the victims who died in a light aircraft that crashed in KwaZulu-Natal have received the postmortem results of their loved ones.

The aircraft went missing on Sunday with the three passengers on board.

The Transport Department confirmed that a medical student, as well as two student pilots, were part of a plane formation flying from Virginia Airport in Durban to Pretoria.

Department of Transport spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya said, “We are currently at Greyville, Moshwari, with the families of the two victims of the light aircraft, Lwazi Msane, aged 23, Siphesihle Buthelezi, aged 20, who was a medical student, and Gwazi, who was a pilot. We can indicate that the family of Msane has proceeded to the scene of the crash to do a private family activity. They have received a post-mortem, they've managed to register a death certificate with the Home Affairs."
