JOHANNESBURG - Two Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officers have been killed in Tembisa.
EMPD said the pair was on night duty when they were attacked by criminals in Umthambeka Section on Thursday night.
The criminals allegedly robbed the law enforcement's service pistols before fleeing the scene on foot.
“The two officers are from the EMPD intervention unit and were certified dead on scene. The suspects robbed the officers of their service pistols and fled on foot where a nearby unknown getaway vehicle was waiting for them to flee the scene,” said EMPD spokesperson Thabiso Makgato.
