DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government says more than 200 schools have been affected by the recent stormy weather that hit the province this week.
Heavy rains, thunderstorms and hail lashed the province on Monday and Tuesday, causing great damage to public infrastructure.
At least 14 schools were severely damaged.
Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli visited some of the schools earlier on Friday.
“We will be approaching even the private sector, the NGOs [non-governmental organisations], to come on board to assist and partner with us as government, so that we fix the damage. Already, the Department of Education has sent the IDT to assess and quantify the damage.”
