JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have not ruled out murder after a burnt body was uncovered in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg.
The charred remains were found by community members on Thursday in an open veld in Extension 6.
The body was burnt beyond recognition and has since been taken to a state mortuary for forensic analysis.
SAPS spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko says investigators are treating the case as an inquest, but murder remains a possibility.
"The remains were transported to a state mortuary for further analysis. The police are investigating an inquest, with the possibility of murder, pending DNA analysis to determine the deceased's identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident."
