CAPE TOWN - Tuesday is D-Day for parents who are yet to select a school for grades R, 1 and 8 for the 2026 academic year.
Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier explained: "Parents who receive more than one offer for a place for their child in grade R, 1, or 8 in 2026 have until Tuesday, the 17th of June, to confirm their choices."
Maynier said these parents were essentially 'double-parked' and holding up places that could be offered to parents who are still waiting for an offer.
"After Tuesday, the online admission system will auto confirm their top-ranked choice of school, freeing up thousands of remaining places for other parents. Schools will continue to fill remaining places until the end of July."
