JOHANNESBURG - Former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general (SG), Floyd Shivambu, said he was removed from his position due to a fake intelligence report claiming he wanted to overthrow the party’s leader, Jacob Zuma.
On Thursday, Shivambu held a media briefing at the Mhulu Hotel, in Midrand, to give an update on his political future.
On 3 June, Shivambu was demoted as the party’s SG and was told he would be redeployed to Parliament.
The party said the demotion was due to Shivambu’s trip to Malawi where he visited wanted fugitive, Shepherd Bushiri.
However, Shivambu said this was not the real reason.
Shivambu also announced that he will be convening a committee to establish whether there is a need for him to form a new political party.
