DURBAN - The murder case of slain African National Congress (ANC) politician, Sindiso Magaqa, has been set down to start trial in October.
New indictments were served on the two remaining accused in the matter on Thursday morning.
The indictments are as a result of the fourth accused, Sibusiso Ngcengwa, pleading guilty in the case, implicating the other accused in the matter.
The matter returned to the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Thursday morning.
During the brief proceedings in the matter against four men accused of Magaqa's murder, the State presented its new indictment in court.
Initially, the State was set to prosecute four men for Magaqa's murder, but one of the men, Mlungisi Ncalane, was declared unfit to stand trial and was admitted to a mental institution, while Ngcengwa pleaded guilty and implicated the other accused.
The State said it was ready to prosecute the remaining two accused – former police officer Sibonelo Myeza and businessman Mbulelo Mpofana.
"Since accused number 4 has been separated in this matter by consent, we have agreed that this matter may be postponed for trial on the next session, which will be starting from the 6th of October," said prosecutor, Advocate Elvis Cweka.
The court heard that witnesses, including police and ballistic experts, would take the stand in the trial.
