JOHANNESBURG - Head of the disaster risk department in the South African Weather Services (SAWS), Rudzani Malala, says more needs to be done to share weather warnings to help prevent disasters.
This follows the devastating Eastern Cape floods, which claimed the lives of close to 100 people and left thousands homeless.
Addressing a media briefing earlier, Malala also warned that an intense cold front is expected in parts of the country from Wednesday.
He emphasised why it's important they issue early warnings.
"This briefing comes at a time when the country is still struggling to come to terms with a misfortune that befell the people of the Eastern Cape earlier this month, resulting in dozens of deaths and the displacement of hundreds of people."
