Cape Town road closures for historic Springboks vs Barbarians match

This will be the first time that the invitational side plays in South Africa and the first since the 31-all draw in November 2016 at London's Wembley Stadium.

CAPE TOWN - The Springboks kick off their season with a match against the Barbarians on 28 June at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

This will be the first time that the invitational side plays in South Africa and the first since the 31-all draw in November 2016 at London's Wembley Stadium.

The following road closures for the match will be implemented on 28 June:

Road closures

- Fritz Sonnenberg Rd between McDonald's (P3) & Vlei Road - Full closure in both directions - 06:00 – 06:00 (24 hours)

- Stephan Way between Fritz Sonnenberg & Hamilton's RFC - Full closure in both directions - 06:00 – 22:30

- Vlei Road between Helen Suzman Boulevard & Fritz Sonnenberg - Full closure in both directions - 06:00 – 22:30

- Fort Wynyard Street between Portswood Rd & Granger Bay Boulevard - Full closure - 06:00 – 22:30

- Granger Bay Boulevard between Helen Suzman Blvd & Beach Road - Restricted access - 06:00 – 22:30

The City of Cape Town will also implement a park and ride service for spectators going to the game.

According to a statement from the city, free MyCiTi shuttles will ferry matchday ticket holders from Century City, CTICC, Thibault Square and Civic Centre stations.

The first shuttles from these stations depart at 12pm and return services will operate until 9.30pm.

A designated e-hailing drop-off and pick-up area will be located at P13 on Green Point Main Road, between York Road and Wigtown Road.

The gates at the stadium are scheduled to open at 12pm.

Kick-off is at 5.10pm.
